If you already have a design, no worries; we accept other file formats, including JPEG, PNG, or EPS.

For content that is a combination of graphics and photography, we suggest using print-ready PDFs to ensure the best quality.

Layout tips for perfect bound booklets
These are some layout tips for perfect bound booklets:

- The spine area on the reverse of the cover is not printable, since it is where the interior pages will be glued.

- Note that the 1st interior page in the template will be on the right side of the final product’s spread.

- Given a 64 paged Perfect Bound booklet order: 60 interior pages + 2 spreads (cover / back cover on the first spread & first and last interior pages on the second spread) = 62 pages pdf file.

The width of the spine depends on the amount of pages and paper type you choose for your booklet. Here you can find an overview of the different spines widths that are needed:

Use CMYK as the color mode.

Prepare your files using CMYK as the color mode, not RGB. Use color mode FOGRA39 (ISO Coated v2). If you are unsure of the color mode of your file, don't worry we can always convert this for you. Keep in mind this can cause the colours to differ from the original file.

Resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Make sure the resolution of the images and graphics in your artwork are at least 300 dpi.

Add 0.125(in) bleed and keep 0.125(in) safety margin

During production, there might be a slight cut deviation. To avoid any issues, we recommend the following:

  • Add a 0.125 inch bleed around all edges of your design.
  • Keep important elements 0.125 inches away from the edge or folding lines.
  • Avoid using borders or frames on smaller formats like labels or business cards.
Text and fonts specifications (Min. font size is 6 pt)

For this product, the minimum font size is 6 pt. To avoid any issues, we recommend the following:

  • Fonts must be embedded or outlined.
  • If your design contains small black text, make sure it is 100 % black (Cyan: 0 Magenta: 0 Yellow: 0 Black: 100).

Note that we don't check spelling or typographical errors.

Check line thickness.

Lines should be at least 0.25 pt. Negative lines should be at least 0.5 pt.

Check your artwork for overprint.

Make sure no elements in your artwork are set on overprint unless you want this effect in your design.

Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Force Color Images to CMYK with a 260% ink limit (in Photoshop > Convert Color Profile > Photoshop 5 Default CMYK). Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a perfect bound booklets? And what can I use it for?

A perfect bound booklet is a high-quality brochure or catalog with 28 pages or more, securely bound with a strong adhesive along the spine. Choose from various sizes, materials, and page counts to create a polished, professional look!

What is perfect binding?

Perfect binding is a popular bookbinding method that creates a sleek, professional finish. This technique involves gluing a durable cover to the spine of the book’s pages, forming a seamless and polished look. Often used for magazines, catalogs, reports, and softcover books, perfect binding ensures a high-quality and long-lasting presentation. Unlike saddle stitch or Wire-O binding, perfect binding provides a flat, square spine, which can also be printed with a title or design, making it ideal for branding and easy storage.

How durable is perfect binding?

Perfect binding is very durable and designed for frequent handling. It's commonly used in book publishing, making it suitable for long-lasting business or marketing materials.

Can perfect bound books have printing on their spines, and if so, what are the requirements?

Yes, perfect bound books can have printing on their spines. The spine width is calculated based on the number of pages and paper thickness. You can find all spine width measurements here. Spine text should be centered and small enough to allow at least ⅛ inch of space on either side.

What is the minimum thickness or page count required for a book to be perfectly bound?

For perfect binding, the minimum spine thickness required is 0.125 inches (3 mm or 1/8 inch). In terms of page count, this typically means at least 28 pages for lighter paper stocks.

Is the amount of pages equal to the amount of paper sheets?

No. This is because the pages are folded and printed on both sides. A sheet of paper gets folded in the middle so it covers 4 pages (2 on the front and 2 on the back). For example, when you choose an 5.5 x 8.5 in brochure with 8 pages, we print two 8.5 x 11 sheets (two times as big) and fold them in half, which results in a total of 8 pages.

What is the maximum number of pages per booklet?

The maximum amount of pages for your perfect bound booklets is 200. If you would like a booklet with more than 200 pages, please contact us.

What is the fastest possible turnaround?

The fastest possible turnaround for Perfect Bound Booklets is:
• Next day
Please note: Only applicable for products which require your design: To make sure that your order is delivered at the indicated time, it is important that we receive your file with your design for the product, on time (also called cut-off time). This way, the product can be moved into production on time. The deadline is always communicated at the final step when putting your product together and in the box on the right which details your entire order.
The cut-off time for your printed item may vary. This depends on the combination you choose. This has to do with the manufacturing technique and / or the order quantities.
Please note: The product delivery shifts a day every time the deadline for submission has passed. This is also the case if the file is rejected by us and corrected artwork isn't supplied before the next cut-off time.

Which carriers are used for the delivery?

For the delivery of Perfect Bound Booklets, we use our most reliable carriers which, in most cases, are UPS or FEDEX.
We also use own courier service. However, these carriers are only used for certain products (depending on the size, the turnaround and the quantity).

I can't find the product I'm looking for. Can I request a quotation?

If your material type, weight, quantity, size or other specification is not listed, you can request a quotation. We will send you our offer within 1 working day. However, depending on the complexity, it may take a bit longer.
