Sincerely Louise is an independent, award-winning knitting brand that specialises in faux taxidermy inspired designs. They believe that knitting should be fun and that with a few simple stitches you can make something extraordinary. Since launching back in 2014 Sincerely Louise has grown from a one girl band working in a bedroom to a small team based in their South London studio, with the aim is to encourage and inspire as many people as possible to learn to knit and to create something fun with a big personality.
Starting as an Etsy shop, with some designs going viral before the webshop was born, Sincerely Louise started their journey very much online. However, as they have progressed and grown over the past four years they have identified and used print, and in particular booklets as a great marketing tool. I caught up with founder Louise to find out why.
We produce all our knitting patterns in printed booklets. When I first launched the businesses I was printing all the patterns using just an inkjet printer, which was long winded and didn't look very professional. By producing the patterns that included in our knitting kits as booklets it saved so much time and they now look great. I like to use A6 or A5 booklets for most of our kits as they're compact, so knitters can take them anywhere. I also use A4 booklets for our monthly mystery knitting project, these give me the space to included step by step photo guides for our customers.
What benefits do you see from print over digital?
We choose to print out patterns as our customers then own a physical copy which they can take anywhere, mark where they've got to or write notes on. Some of our competitors offer a digital pattern, which is downloaded after their customers buy a kit. This may work for them, but we feel a printed pattern is always better.
I choose Helloprint as my print supplier as the quality of the print is always great, the delivery is reliable and I can choose your turnaround times to suit my business needs. When I've needed help the customer service has always been great too.
What other print products have you used?
We use A5 flyers, which we included in every order or give out at exhibitions. These have extra information, such as advertising our products, events or competitions to bring to our customers attention. We also use the foamex sign printing service for promotion at exhibitions, it's great as our logo is an unusual shape. Having it cut to our specification makes it stand out.
What is next for Sincerely Louise?
We're currently in the middle of moving our HQ to Sheffield, but are still busy working on our next project. We're writing a vintage style knitters annual, which not only includes patterns, but stories, puzzles and quizzes. It's a lot of fun and of course will be printed as a hardback book!
Thanks Louise, we totally love what you are doing and can't wait to see the next patterns ready for the press!
