What is B Corp?
Let’s start at the beginning: the ‘B’ in B Corp stands for ‘Benefit’. It essentially means that a company prioritises and benefits all of those who have an interest in its performance and outcomes. Think of people (workers, customers, suppliers, investors, regulators), the community more broadly, and the environment, and not just its shareholders.
Companies carrying the B Corp certificate meet high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.
What began as a small project to create more awareness around sustainability evolved into a much larger ambition: Becoming B Corp certified.

What does it take?
To become a B Corp, you need to demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review.
Next to that, you need to make a legal commitment by changing your corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
Finally, you need to exhibit transparency by allowing information about your performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on your B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
